21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Dear Church Family,

We are so excited that you are joining us on this amazing journey of Prayer and Fasting here at EpicLife Church!

WHAT IS FASTING?

Fasting stated simply, is refraining from food for a Spiritual purpose. Fasting has always been a normal part of a relationship with God, and it brings us deeper and more intimate with God. We want direction and to be able to hear His voice more clearly. As a church, and as a nation, we need to hear from God more now than ever before.

THINGS TO REMEMBER

  1. As a church we are fasting January 10th through the 31st. However, God may lead you to fast longer than 21 days. It’s important to listen to the Holy Spirit for direction.

  2. We are following the Daniel Fast, which is mostly fruits and vegetables. Other options for fasting are one meal a day, liquids only, water only, etc.

  3. Fasting is not dieting. Fasting is spiritual and is always accompanied by prayer and bible reading.

  4. Set aside time for prayer and devotion with the Lord every day. Let’s get into the word together as a church. Follow our along with our bible reading plan here.

As we eliminate food from our diet for 21 days, our spirits become uncluttered by the things of this world and amazingly sensitive to the things of God. Please join us for prayer at 6:30am every weekday starting Thursday, January 11th. Join our telegram channel to be part of our live daily prayer call.

If you sense God has more for your life, 21 Days of Prayer is a great place to start believing Him for all that He has for you. As you practice seeking Him first, He will move on your behalf like never before. You will start to see the power of prayer impact your relationships, work, family, and every area of your life. Whether you join us in person or online, we would love for you to be part of 21 Days of Prayer on Jan. 10th - 31st, 2024.

We love you all very much!

- Pastors Dan & Martha Munizzi

FASTING

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose.

Fasting does not change God’s mind. It puts us in a position to receive from God. Fasting is not starving yourself; but simply separating yourself from something you would normally do in order to spend time with God and His Word. When we do this, it helps us to tune out the influences of our physical senses and enables us to hear from God.

TYPES OF FASTS

COMPLETE FAST

This fast calls for drinking only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

SELECTIVE FAST

This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, or bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food. For more info on the Daniel Fast, check out this resourceful website here.

PARTIAL FAST

This fast is sometimes called the Jewish Fast and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.

SOUL FAST

This fast is common for those who do not have much experience fasting food, who have health issues that prevent them from fasting good, or who wish to refocus certain areas of their life that are out of balance. For instance, someone might select to abstain from using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast, and then choose to carefully bring that element back into their life in an orderly fashion at the conclusion of the fast.
